Inspired by the GOAT, Maximally Attenuated Compression (MAC) pistons are taking position sensitive damping performance to all new heights. The increased piston and wear band height is designed to fully overlap external bypass ports, delivering more seamless and consistent damping performance. The greater wear band contact area provides an improved seal, making valving more effective while also increasing strength and rigidity. Enhanced compliancy allows for a smoother transition between bypass zones, plus increased bottom-out performance.
Sold as a Kit & Includes:
- (1) Piston w/ O-Ring
- (1) Wear Band
EXCEEDING 110%
The increase in wear band height
provides full coverage of the bypass
ports, eliminating a brief drop in force
previously experienced with standard
pistons as they travel across each
port. While standard piston port
coverage ranges from 46-71%, MAC
pistons deliver 112-173% coverage.
STOPPING THE BLEED
The larger wear band increases the
contact area with the body, creating
an improved seal and reducing
uncontrolled fluid bleed around the
piston.
SOFTER BUT FIRMER
By eliminating the drop in force when
crossing bypass ports and reducing
uncontrolled bleed around the piston,
the valving becomes more effective
and the damping more consistent.
This provides the opportunity to open
the bypass tubes for enhanced
comfort and traction in the ride zone,
complimented by more seamless
transitions between each bypass zone
while simultaneously delivering
increased bottom-out performance.
That translates to a smoother, more
bottomless feel – or “softer, but
firmer” as Rob Mac would say.
STRENGTH & DURABILITY
The taller height also increases the
rigidity and strength of the piston and
shaft assembly, minimizing the effects
of dynamic side-loading and the
resulting wear on parts.
BILLET ALUMINUM
New 9-hole high flow design is
machined from 2024-T6 billet
aluminum and is hard anodized for a
long-lasting finish.
LIGHTER
By switching to billet aluminum
pistons on 4.0 and 4.4 external
bypass shocks, we achieved a 52%
reduction in piston weight compared
to standard height steel pistons. This
decrease in mass equates less
dramatic shifts in inertial forces when
transitioning between compression
and rebound, resulting in more
responsive suspension.
UPGRADE/RETROFIT
The new MAC piston is now available
as an upgrade and is backwards
compatible on all existing 2.5 and
larger external bypass shocks.

Answers here.
What makes SDG spring kits different from stock springs?
SDG spring kits use race-proven dual-rate designs tuned for your exact model. They restore ride height, improve comfort, and eliminate bottom-outs — the same setups used by championship race teams.
Do bundles qualify for financing?
Yes. SDG offers “Ride Now, Pay Later” financing for all complete systems.
What’s included in the SDG suspension bundle?
Each bundle includes SDG spring kits, reservoirs, clevis & shaft upgrades, and sway bar or limit strap options — all tuned to work as one system.
Do SDG spring kits fit both 2-seat and 4-seat models?
Yes. Each kit is vehicle-specific and includes the correct rates and preload setup for 2-seat or 4-seat configurations. Just select your model at checkout.
Do I need to revalve my shocks after installing a spring kit?
Not usually. Our spring kits are tuned to work with stock valving, but a revalve can enhance performance if you’ve added major weight like cages or accessories.
What does the SDG reservoir do?
The SDG reservoir increases nitrogen volume and reduces internal pressure buildup. It prevents heat fade, oil foaming, and premature seal wear — keeping shocks consistent in long desert or dune runs.
What do the SDG clevis and shaft upgrades improve?
They increase durability and smooth travel by using precision-machined materials that resist deflection. It’s a race-grade upgrade for consistent handling.
Do spring hats help ride quality?
Absolutely. By maintaining consistent geometry, they prevent unwanted spring movement and reduce top-out harshness.
Why upgrade the shaft if my stock one isn’t broken?
Stock shafts can flex or score over time. Our race-grade shafts maintain tight tolerances and reduce internal wear — keeping damping consistent.
